Broker's Comments
Boatshed Grand Union are delighted to offer this Nelson 42 for sale with residential mooring at Limehouse Basin in central London.
This was the first police boat to be designed and built in the U.K.for use in other than sheltered waters. She was launched on 8th July 1959 in Shoreham by the Chief Constable’s wife Lady Peel and was commissioned at Tilbury Landing Stage on 5th August 1959 by Sir Frank Foster CBE, JP and the Chief Constable Sir Jonathan Peel. Sold out of service in 1978 she moved to the non-tidal Thames and was used as a pleasure boat until purchased by the previous owner who embarked on a major rebuilding project. The total cost of rebuilding, fitting out etc. exceeded £500,000 and this craft has to be viewed to appreciate the high standard of equipment & fittings.
The boat is a comfortable home at present, but would be equally at home as a pied a terre or, perhaps most importantly, a very competent river cruiser which will attract well deserved attention for its beauty, style and performance.
The boat is fully residential at Limehouse marina, close to the city, DLR and all local facilities. The mooring is transferable subject to agreement with Marina Management and on payment of a 5% transfer fee
