Broker's Comments

This fantastic 28m Medway Barge is now for sale with London residential mooring at Hermitage Community Moorings. As houseboats in the capital go, this is right up there with an unbelievable position looking straight up the river at Tower Bridge and the barge herself lives up to all the expectations.

This is a big barge, stating the obvious, and there is just under 2,000sq ft of space on offer, the main living space in particular is flooded with light thanks to portholes everywhere you look, large skylights and very high ceilings. Four cabins means there is sleeping space for seven with two double cabins, a twin and a single. There is one main bathroom and a second separate heads.

There are plenty of options for entertaining with the large wheelhouse or forward and aft decks all giving lots of space for evenings watching the ebb and flow of the Thames - there can't be many more peaceful spots this close to the City.

Hermitage Community Moorings is a totally unique place for liveaboard boaters. Owned and managed by its residents, all the barges here have to be of historical importance and this barge ticks that box emphatically. One of the last few working Medway Coasters, she was built in Strood in 1961 and worked on the Medway until 1990 and converted to a residential houseboat thereafter. The price of the barge includes the membership to the moorings and there is a monthly fee of £511pcm to cover the upkeep of the moorings.
