Magnificent BERKEL twin cylinder "cathedral" (sorry engine) producing 61hp at one hundred and plonk RPM.
Dating from 1925, started by compressed air and still hasn't done as many revolutions in it's lifetime as a modern engine in a single season. Pure joy and music to the ears, there is a full starting video on this webpage.
Lister ST1 hand start to provide compressed air should you find your bottle empty. The Lister can also be used as a bilge pump when swapping over the drive belt to the water pump instead of the air pump!
4 batteries for domestic 24v & 220v electricity charged by shore power, the Lister (it is also fitted with an alternator) and solar panels.
7 solar panels (900 W). Chargeur
VICTRON charger / inverter 24W/2000W

Broker's Comments
Live aboard Dutch barge for sale in France. Boatshed Midi Canals is pleased to offer this converted Tjalk for sale on the Canal du Midi. Built as a sailing tjalk in 1902 and motorised in the 1920s she was later converted first into a hotel & charter barge then used as a comfortable family home and chambre d'hôtes. Spacious living accommodation with good private spaces and separate guest accommodation she really does give a feeling of space and cozy comfort. A big plus is the 24m2 deck terrace. Practical, yet with oodles of character and charm both in the living accommodation as well as in the engine room she is pure music when underway. Possibility of taking on the mooring in a typical Canal du Midi village (subject to approval).
A classic cruising home with commercial possibilities our knowledgeable vendors will be pleased to give a full handover to new owners.
