Broker's Comments

This is a very nice tidy Westerly Griffon, looking through her you see she has been very well cared for and updated regularly. Antifouled Feb 2019. Nice and spacious in both cockpit and interior for a 26ft boat she also boasts a lift keel allowing you to creep into shallower anchorage. A good condition cockpit tent even gives you some extra outside space with cover. A comfortable and practical well constructed cruiser.

Some info regarding her lifting keel:

She has a fixed fin keel which gives a draft of 1 metre. Within this fixed keel is a movable plate operated from the Saloon
by a hydraulic pump located under the Port bench. With this plate down the draft goes to 1.7metres which means that she
sails very well upwind. A Westerly sailing as close to the wind as she does and with a reduced leeway surprises many.

With the plate up this reduces drag downwind and also allows “ditch
crawling” although, of course she will list on firm ground due to the fin. The rudder has a similar draft to the fin with the plate up so there is little fear of the rudder being damaged if you take the ground.
