Broker's Comments
Built for the Admiralty post war as a fleet tender this MFV is a genuinely seaworthy piece of maritime history. Some eight years or so ago she benefitted from a rebuild with new decks and wheelhouse and her Gardner engine was rebuilt too. This work was carried out in Wales by the young and enthusiastic classic boat owner/partner in a marine engineering business. She was then featured in Classic Boat and became well known on the Historic Ships Register.
She then came into the ownership of a very experienced, and wooden boat savvy, cruising couple who proceeded to gut her interior to make for themselves a first class and tasteful cruising home. Money was really no object and work was carried out under cover in a Scottish yard, where remedial work on her keel and re-caulking was carried out.
Her frames and timbers are massive and sound and at 60years old she is probably good for another 60 if she continues to get the tlc that she presently enjoys. She is a warm, clean and dry cosy home, and with a range of 2000 miles she could easily be a home in the sun! With two widely separated sleeping cabins, both with en-suite facilities, she is ideal for a couple and two guests but a further two occasional guests can be comfortably accommodated on her full length settees. She is ready to cruise, right down to her full fuel tanks and is offered for sale as her owners are now, with some regret, 'swallowing the anchor'.
