Keelform Hull Design:
The hull design of the Camano 31 is unique and well-regarded for its stability, seaworthiness, and efficiency. The deep, hollow v-shaped keel provides about 25% of the hull's displacement, and above displacement speeds helps lift the stern so that water runs cleanly off the transom, thus maintaining a more linear speed-fuel relationship up to 17 knots. An additional benefit of the Keelform hull is that the engine is mounted in the keel, lowering the center of gravity. The boat heels very little even in tight turns. The owners speak of its stable performance in difficult sea conditions and its fuel efficiency, especially at speeds from 10 - 15 knots that are difficult for planing or displacement hulls of this size.
Pronounced bow flair keeps the spray down and makes for a dryer boat.
Prop and rudder are protected by a skeg.
The exceptionally large window area is subdivided into enough segments that structural rigidity is maintained.
Solid, hand-laid fiberglass below the waterline, with foam coring above the waterline. The windlass and deck fixtures are backed with metal backing plates.
Extensive sound-deadening insulation is used in the cabin floor, making the boat unusually quiet in operation.

The Camano 31 has list of features that aren't commonly found on other pocket trawlers. It has a spacious flybridge with 3 pedestal seats - each with a panoramic view. There is room on the flybridge to store extra gear or coolers if you choose. The cockpit has high gunwhales for safety and a transom door for ease of boarding. The cockpit is great for fishing or enjoying the view from a deck chair.
The main salon is entered through a sturdy door from the cockpit and is surprisingly roomy. Windows on all sides provide 360 degree visibility and plenty of natural light. On the portside is a built-in L-shaped dinette that converts to a double berth. You can see out the saloon windows while seated at the dinette - which is an important design that many other manufacturers overlook. The lower helm is on the starboard side - it has good visibility because of its forward location and many owners use it as their primary helm. To save space, Camano provided a folding helm seat that can be stored out of the way when you want more saloon space at your destination. The folding helm seat has been customized by the engineer/owner so that it is braced by a hinged attachment to the cabin side for better stability even when the boat is rolling.
Down two steps and to the portside is the fully equipped galley. It features a refrigerator/freezer combo, built in microwave, dual stainless sink, and propane stove/oven. The owners have added a custom spice rack in the galley and additional storage under the floor by the galley as well as a slide out storage box that fits under the step.
Across from the galley is the head/shower compartment. The head was upgraded by the owners to a Tecma electric unit. The shower head pulls out from the sink.
Forward of the head and galley is the V-berth. It has 6'5" of sleeping room and comfortably accommodates two adults.
A perfect cruiser for a couple or small family with sleeping for 4.

Broker's Comments
The Camano 31 is an innovative cruiser providing relatively fast cruise speed with low fuel consumption, a roomy cabin with 360 degree views and exceptional stability. The unique "Keelform" hull design and low engine position allows efficient and comfortable cruise speeds in the 10-13 knot range and a top speed of up to 17 knots. The well insulated engine compartment keeps cabin noise low. This particular example is owned by experienced boaters who have only improved the boat during their ownership. It is very low time with 495 hours on the engine and in better than new condition with significant custom upgrades.
