As probably a lot of men, Henrik has an interest for both cars, boats and planes, although his interest and devotion changes from time to time. When we had crossed the Atlantic, Henrik was so tired of sailing that he asked me, if we should leave the boat in the Caribbean and fly through Africa instead. At that point I was firm, though. After 31 days on the Atlantic I wanted to be rewarded with white beaches and palm trees: We are sailing!
Boatshed have been at Cowes over the past few days....Cowes Week has played a key part in the British sporting summer calendar since 1826 and is now one of the UK’s longest running and most successful sporting events. In October members of the Boatshed team traveled to Paris for Paris Fashion Week, as guests of Dato' Nancy Yeoh, the well-known international public relations guru. Fashion and boating enjoy a close association, and Boatshed is working with a number of agent representatives developing ideas to roll-out more Boatshed offices across Asia.

Two times in this season one of our lower shrouds has broke. The first time it happened, we were at anchor in St. Barth. One morning we heard a bump on the deck, and it turned out that the rig fitting that is placed on the wire in the mast had snapped. Henrik changed it in St. Martin and planned to change the rest, when we got to the US. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to get there, before another one broke. And this time almost 200 nm from shore!
This weekend saw two happy customers collect the keys for their new boats sold through Boatshed Chichester. Richard Martin, the local broker was kept on his toes as he completed the handovers.
After almost 9 days at sea we made it to Bermuda last Saturday. We didn't move very fast (we averaged under a 100 nm a day), but it was one of the most comfortable offshore passages we've yet had.
The Boatshed ketch Supertaff was en route from Alderney in the Channel Islands back towards Portsmouth UK when a mayday relay was heard over the radio. This concerned the case of a missing seaman on a bulk carrier, the M/V Julia. The skipper had relayed a mayday having found that a crew member had gone missing.
After one week at sea, we still have nearly 200 nautical miles left to Bermuda. At the moment it looks like we'll arrive in Bermuda Saturday – just in time for the Champions League Final (If they care about that in Bermuda).
The season in the Caribbean is about to end. Many cruisers are on their way back to Europe after a one year Atlantic Circuit, and we will also leave the Caribbean in a week sailing with the Salty Dawg organisation – a free of charge gathering of sailing vessels heading north together.
Some months have passed since our last newsletter and, whilst we haven’t covered a lot of sea miles, we have fulfilled our goal to cruise the northern Caribbean islands slowly, taking time to really get to know them, rather than ‘pass through’ as we did in dear old Penmar, on our previous voyage to these parts.

Henrik and I often describe ourselves as marina animals. We always love being in a marina, and I’m the first to suggest going into a marina instead of anchoring up outside.
I've never given racing a lot thought. Some times I encourage Henrik to trim the sails in order to get to shore faster, but besides that I don’t have much interest in yacht racing.
Having never really visited lancashire inland before, we were winding our way down country lanes in bright sunshine dodging the showers and following canals heading towards Glasson basin Marina to interview a new yacht brokerage business which is really making a difference.
I’ve always thought it is fun to be at a busy anchorage, because something is always going on. Since you can’t sit at home and watch television, you can instead keep an eye on the other boats.
It is common knowledge that cruising life is the same as fixing boats in exotic places. There’s always work to do on a boat! In Martinique we met a young couple in the marina, who were working on their boat.
